My comment: An undercover mission as a couple makes our two favourite assassins confront their own feelings
Of all the things that Natasha Romanoff had been asked to do for a mission, being a housewife had to be the weirdest. There wasn’t any doubt in her mind that she couldn’t, but her domestic skills had never really come into play in her work with S.H.I.E.L.D. In order to fit into her cover and the conservative gated community where she and Clint were headed, Natasha had to buy a new wardrobe. She wasn’t one for sweater sets, but from the intel in her mission folder, the women in this community did not do worn jeans and fitted t-shirts. There was now a considerable amount of beige and pastel in her closet.
Natasha hated beige.
Clint didn’t seemed thrilled about the polo shirt and chinos he was wearing either. Every couple of seconds, he fidgeted with the collar or shifted in his seat and Natasha tried not to laugh. Tactical gear was perfectly fine, but a pair of khaki pants and a collared shirt made him uncomfortable. She looked out the window at the desert thousands of miles below as she ran through her cover’s facts once again.

➸ Cocktails on the Balcony by Artemis_Day

My comment: If you’re a bit down and looking for cute fluff, this will be the one for you, because who doesn’t like to see them flirt in an undercover mission?
It’s a calm summer night in Tuscany, but Clint can’t really enjoy himself. It would be one thing if he was spending the night alone, sitting in the tallest tree he could find with the wind in his hair and the leaves under his boots. It’s no coincidence that his codename is Hawkeye. He’s always felt the most alive in a makeshift nest with the world at his feet.
The real problem is that Italy has never agreed with him. Too warm all the time. He’s more partial to Sweden and other Scandinavian countries.
There is one very good reason that he’s standing out on this balcony in the middle of the dreariest cocktail party in the history of dreary cocktail parties, dressed to the nines in his finest monkey suit, and trying to forget that his wine is of the wrong label and far too dry. It’s not the bomber who’s sent a dozen anonymous threats to blow this whole place sky high tonight, and it’s definitely not to sample the high class Hors d'oeuvres (which all taste like stale balloons to Clint’s low class American tastes). The real reason is in a curve hugging red dress, swaying her hips for the balding old man she’s been charming information out of for ten minutes.

My comment: It’s not even near Christmas, but this fic brings back all the beautiful Clintasha Christmas feels :’) Lots of cute fluff to satisfy all your immense fluff-needs. It isn’t one of those ‘cute family fics’, if you’re wondering.
“You gotta be fucking kidding me.” Clint stares at Fury as if the good Director has suddenly sprouted a second eye – on a stalk. “S.H.I.E.L.D. actually expects us to take a live baby on a mission? An immobile, inarticulate, defenseless miniature civilian…”
“… who isn’t even toilet trained?” Natasha finishes his sentence, but her partner isn’t done.
“And you want us to take that same baby into a situation where they’re not only exposed to dangerous criminal activity, but are actually the featured bait? Can’t you get R&D to give us a – what’s that term they throw around down there – live model decoy? Seems appropriate enough, under the circumstances.”
Natasha invokes the final trump card.
“Have you talked to Legal, whether S.H.I.E.L.D.’s third-party liability insurance covers cases of gross negligence by senior management? Imagine the law suit.”
“I’m confident that you two can make sure that the kid is not actually in danger,” Fury growls, unmoved. (The bit about the insurance, Natasha notices, is left unaddressed.)
